Abstract
Upper bound calculations for the lowest P-4(o) states of the Li isoele ctronic series from LiI-Ne VIII are given. Using large double linked H ylleraas-CI calculations high accuracy was achieved. We obtained in th e infinite-mass approximation the energy of the lowest P-4(o) state of the Li atom E = -5.3680101(4) E-h. Furthermore, a comparison is given with experimental data especially concerning the transition 2 P-4(o) --> 3 S-4.
