The rod alga, Chondria armata, collected from Goa coast, has been studied f
or its fatty acid composition. The analysis of fatty acid methyl esters by
GC-MS (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) revealed the presence of n-tet
radecanoic, n-pentadecanoic, n-hexadecanoic, n-octadecanoic, hexadec-4-enoi
c, hexadec-5-enoic, and octadec-9-enoic acids. Palmitic acid and oleic acid
were dominant.
