Validation of drum boiler models through complete dynamic tests

This paper describes the validation of a model library for the simulation o f drum boilers on the basis of static and dynamic experimental data obtaine d from a small-scale plant. All the steps of the validation process are des cribed in detail, with particular reference to the modelling principles, to the trade-off between model complexity and accuracy, to the solution strat egy and to the data-reconciliation policy. The results of the validation ha ve formed an important knowledge base, which might be made available to oth er research groups. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
