Abstract
Studies dating from the 1950s have documented the impact of early life even ts on the development of behavioral and endocrine responses to stress. Rece nt findings suggest that these effects are mediated through changes in moth er-offspring interactions and have identified central corticotropin-releasi ng factor systems as a critical target for the effects of variations in mat ernal care.
