Abstract
The first CW measurements are reported of single-pass signal phase shifts a t 1.55 mu m using a cascaded parametric interaction with a few tens of mill iwatts of injected pump power around 0.85 mu m. The interaction occurs in a periodically poled lithium niobate channel waveguide. The corresponding no nlinear coefficient is one of the largest reported to date: n(2)(eff) = +/- 7 x 10(-13)cm(2)/W.
