S. Ambe et al., Multitracer study on the soil-to-plant transfer of radionuclides in komatsuna at different growth stages, ENV TECHNOL, 20(1), 1999, pp. 111-116
The transfer factor of radionuclides of Na, Mn, Co, Zn, Se, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr,
Tc, Rh and Cs in komatsuna (Brassica rapa L. var. perviridis Bail) at diffe
rent stages of plant development was determined simultaneously by the multi
tracer technique. Komatsuna was grown on soil administered with the multitr
acer for 14, 20, 26, and 33 days. The transfer factors were determined not
only for edible leaves but also for roots. It was found that the transfer f
actors of Rb, Tc, and Cs for the leaves decreased with increasing culture p
eriod, while those of Na, Co, Zn, Se, and Sr for leaves remained almost con
stant during the culture period. The transfer factor of Mn increased slight
ly with time. Extraction of the multitracer from the soil was carried out i
n order to study the correlation between the transfer factor and the aging
effect of tracers in soil.
