Due to competition between ionic and covalent dissociation, the excited pot
ential curves of the alkali dimers display long range structures, leading i
n some cases to secondary wells. We discuss the possibility of populating t
he well (with a depth of 1614.8 cm(-1), located at R-e = 30.5a(o)) that is
present in the Na-2 (6)(1)Sigma(g)(+) potential curve and propose detection
schemes.
