The effect of a thin lubricating film of a power-law fluid between a bulk f
low and a solid surface can be accommodated by a new slip-flow boundary con
dition. The applicability of this condition in boundary layer theory is exp
lored and numerical similarity solutions are presented for plane stagnation
-point flow. The amount of velocity slip is controlled by a single dimensio
nless lubrication constant. (C) 1999 The Japan Society of Fluid Mechanics a
