Abstract
Large association constants have been obtained in CDCl3 for carboxylic acid
s and a xanthone receptor linked to a guanidine. Protonation of the guanidi
ne with carboxylic acids has been studied in DMSO. Association of the guani
dine receptor and monochloroacetic acid may be observed in this highly comp
etitive solvent.
