Abstract
The authors present an object-based framework for developing wide-area dist ributed applications. The World Wide Web's current performance problems ill ustrate the benefit of encapsulating state, operations, and implementation strategies on a per-object basis. The authors describe how distributed obje cts can implement worldwide scalable Web documents.
