Abstract
The propagation characteristics of a planar waveguide with chiral media fil led in the cladding are presented. The effect of chirality on cutoff, dispe rsion and field distribution of the waveguide are studied. The results show that the cladding chirality may lead to a single-mode operation in the pla nar waveguide.
