The development of expert system for process planning in grinding with grinding center

This paper addresses the construction of a expert system for process planni ng in grinding. Prior to developing the system, several grinding wheels wit h simple shapes are chosen for standardization and the definition of shape elements is simplified. According to the rules for tool selection and proce ssing order to each reference surface, grinding process order is determined through a computer program. The data required for the operation are initia lly input through the data base software on the market, and the syatem is f lexible enough to determine the grinding order for a given part with variou s reference surfaces. The confirmation of the effectiveness of the system i s shown by an example.
