Abstract
During neutron irradiation, B-10 atoms in B4C are destroyed, producing lith ium and helium atoms according to the well-known B-10(n,alpha)Li-7 reaction . The aim of this work is to measure the lithium diffusion coefficient of h igh density boron carbide material. The nuclear microprobe technique is use d to determine lithium concentration profiles in irradiated B4C pellets. Th e analysis of the measured lithium concentration profiles allows to calcula te a lithium diffusion coefficient in this material. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scie nce B.V. All rights reserved.
