Medical undergraduates may be taught psychiatric consultation skills by rev
iewing videotaped interviews which they have conducted with patients. To da
te, there is a paucity of research regarding students' evaluation of this m
ethod of teaching and its impact oil their attitudes to psychiatry. In this
study, medical undergraduates' opinions regarding video interview training
and their attitudes to psychiatry were assessed after completion of a psyc
hiatric clerkship. Although some students described embarrassment at seeing
themselves on screen, the overall response to video training teas positive
. There was no relationship between students' evaluation of video training
and their attitudes to psychiatry.
