Abstract
Although the primary function of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D-3 [1,25(OH)(2)D-3] is the regulation of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, if also regulates the growth and differentiation of several different cell types. Recent work suggests that 1,25(OH)(2)D-3 regulates cellular growth by altering the syn thesis of growth factors and growth factor responses.
