The interaction of nonrelativistic (anti-) fluxons in two coupled-ring Jose
phson junctions under the action of external currents is considered by usin
g adiabatic perturbation theory. The asymptotic static and dynamic states a
nd conditions for their coexistence are found from qualitative analysis of
the system in the phase space. These states correspond to separate stable b
ranches in the current-voltage characteristics, so that hysteresis occurs i
n a system. Comparison with numerical calculations shows a qualitative agre
ement with analytical predictions. [S0163-1829(99)01001-2].
