Abstract
The basic idea of the gauge technique is used for a nonperturbative study o f the vertex correction effects on the BCS formula for the superconducting critical temperature. Qualitative agreement with recent perturbative predic tions is found, supporting the effectiveness of the approach. Nevertheless, some questions arise about the validity limit of the BCS pairing model whi ch stimulate further deeper investigations. [S0163-1829(99)04402-1].
