The effect of adding various corrosion inhibitors on the thickness and prot
ective action of magnetite coatings formed on low-carbon steel in neutral a
mmonium nitrate solutions was studied. The addition of benzimidazole and be
nzotriazole was shown to be most effective. The treatment of an oxidized st
eel surface with an IFKhAN-type aqueous passivating composition improves it
s corrosion resistance and makes it possible to eliminate the stage of oili
ng the coating from the technological chain.
