SYNTHESIS OF SOME NEW PYRROLO HETEROCYCLES - CONDENSATION OF 4-CARBOMETHOXY-1-METHYL-2,3-DIOXOPYRROLIDINE WITH PRIMARY AMINES

2,3-Dioxypyrrolidine (1) was prepared and treated with primary aromati c amines to give the 4-carbamoyl derivatives 2a-d which cyclized to py rrolo[3,4-c]quinolines 3a, b and 4. Condensation of 1 with aminoazoles gave che linearly fused pyrroloheterocycles 5-7. The triazinopyrrole ring system 9 was obtained from 8 and thiosemicarbazide.
