Abstract
alpha,beta-Unsaturated ketones and aldehydes react in alkaline solution wit h enamino nitrile 1 to afford a large variety of new N-heterocycles 3-9. De hydration of the cyclisation products gave fused polycyclic 1,4-dihydropyri dines.
