The review generalises for the first time the published data on the synthes
is and properties of donor-acceptor compounds based on fullerenes, various
solvates and clathrates, inclusion compounds, molecular complexes and compl
exes with charge transfer both with inorganic donors and with donors belong
ing to tetrathiafulvalene, amine, metallocene and metalloporphyrin classes.
Radical-ion salts of fullerenes with bulky cations and alkali metals obtai
ned by intercalation or by direct synthesis in solution are discussed. Resu
lts of studies of fullerene compounds by IR, optical, ESR, X-ray photoelect
ron and C-13 NMR spectroscopy, as well as their conductive (including super
conductive), magnetic and optical properties are discussed.
