In this paper we have investigated the amplitude squeezing of the inte
nsity-dependent Jayne-Cummings model. An analytic function has been ob
tained for large (n) over bar (mean photon number) to express the ligh
t squeezing. We found that the detuning Delta has a favourable effect
on the squeezed state. Slightly increasing the detuning can significan
tly increase the degree of squeezing. The most striking result is that
the field can stay in a deep-squeezed stare for a long time when Delt
a/(n) over bar is large. Also, for some ranges of the detuning, the ma
ximum squeezing of the field almost does not vary with the change in d
etuning.
