A rare case of partial perforation of the wall of the bladder by an intraut
erine contraceptive device (IUCD) in a puerperal woman and its subsequent l
aparoscopic removal is described. Cystoscopy revealed an intact bladder muc
ose with the IUCD lying submucosally. This case demonstrates that an IUCD e
mbedded in the wall of the bladder, whose mucosa is intact, can be safely r
emoved through a laparoscope without resorting to laparotomy.
