Photochemical isomerization of trans-dichlorotetrakis(dimethylphenylphosphi
ne)osmium(II) to its cis-form was confirmed by NMR and IR spectroscopy. The
quantum yield of isornerization was 0.9 at 410 nm which was much larger th
an that (0.03 at 410 nm) of trans-dichlorobis(diphenylphosphinoethane)osmiu
m(II).
