Abstract
Immobilisation of iron ions on Nafion(R) is a promising technique to perfor m the Photo-Fenton method in a neutral pH range. Nafion(R) fulfil the reque sts of being a good complexing agent for iron and it is stable under oxidat ive and aqueous conditions. The efficiency of this new photocatalyst has be en demonstrated by degradation experiments of 4-chlorophenol. In addition t he influence of thickness and area of the membrane on the TOC reduction was tested. Reusing of the membrane after a specific treatment sequence descri bed in this work is also possible and the photocatalyst showed resistance t o ageing. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
