Abstract
An attempt is made to study the structure of the aqueous solution of disulf
oindanthrone-a lath-shaped nonmicellar mesogen. On the basis of X-ray diffr
action data and stereochemical relationships, a model of packing is propose
d for supramolecular aggregates of the disulfoindanthrone. A new nomenclatu
re of lyotropic liquid crystals, formed by discotic and lath-shaped compoun
ds, is discussed.
