F. Bloch et al., Innovating approaches to the generation of intense magnetic field: Optimization of a permanent magnet flux source, EPJ-APPL PH, 5(1), 1999, pp. 85-89
The aim of this study is to design and optimise an original permanent magne
t Aux source, in order to generate a magnetic field of several Tesla. One o
f the innovating aspect of this project is the use of the ponctual dipole p
rinciple (intense field) instead of the infinite dipole principle (homogene
ous field). After the analytical model optimisation, the structure have bee
n discretized to be realizable, using real magnet. An other innovating aspe
ct is the magnetical and geometrical optimization of the combination of dif
ferent hard magnetic material (Neodymium-Iron-Boron magnet) and also soft m
agnetic material (Cobalt-Iron). The magnet configuration is optimised with
the help of numerical simulation sofware developped in the LEG (DIPOLE-3D,
FLUX2D et FLUX3D). The model of flux source creates a field over 4.3 T in a
volume of diameter 6 mm and height 2.8 mm with an external diameter of 100
mm.
