In this paper, a new method of identification of the induction motor equiva
lent circuit parameters is introduced and discussed. The proposed method us
es the single-phase test results as a base test for calculating the equival
ent circuit parameters of the induction motor. The single-phase test is per
formed using a variable frequency power supply (inverter). The test was con
ducted at various frequencies while the voltage, current and power factor w
ere measured. Thereafter, the motor parameters are calculated. The precisio
n of calculation of the motor parameters is sensitive to the accuracy of me
asurements which can be improved by the use of high performance microproces
sors.
