A series of diorganotin(IV) complexes of beta-diketones of general for
mula R2SnL2 where R = CH3, C4H9, C6H5, and L = 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propan
edione, 1-phenyl-1,3-butandione have been prepared by reaction of dior
ganotin dichlorides with the sodium salts of the respective ligands in
1:2 molar ratio. All the compounds have been characterized by IR, mas
s, NMR (H-1, Sn-119) and Sn-119m Mossbauer spectroscopy. The results b
ased on there studies indicate a distorted octahedral geometry for all
compounds. Their toxicity, anti-tumor and biocidal activity against v
arious kinds of bacteria have been studied.
