Abstract
To know the effect of local destruction of habitat. we perform the contact process on a destructed lattice. This system exhibits a phase transition. I t is found that the phase-transition point can he represented by a scaling law of mean-field theory. However, such a law never holds for steady-state density of species; this is because the local destruction leads to an incre ased fragmentation of habitat.
