Abstract
The Pd metal in the multilayer consisting of NiO and Pd exhibits ferromagne tism, due to the proximity effect between NiO and Pd, and has ferromagnetic order at distances greater than 35 Angstrom from the interface. The magnet ic moment of Pd atom at the interface is 0.59 mu(B)/Pd and decreases with i ncreasing distance from the NiO layer.
