Abstract
We investigate VSCPT laser cooling relying on an open h-scheme with the upp er working level having an additional channel of decay to the outside of th e system. The following features of this process are identified: (i) The ex tra decay channel acts like a velocity filter. (ii) The system shows a none xponential decay law. (iii) The counting rate in the decay channel describe s asymptotically the waiting-time distribution for the trapping state.
