Abstract
In this paper, the influence of thermomechanical processing on the tensile response and fracture behavior of a disintegrated melt deposited aluminum a lloy metal-matrix composite is presented and discussed. The uniaxial tensil e properties of the as-processed composite is compared with an extruded cou nterpart. The tensile properties and fracture behavior of the of the as-pro cessed and extruded composites are rationalized in light of the mutually in teractive influences of stress state and intrinsic composite microstructura l effects.
