An integrated monitoring system was installed in a reinforced concrete tran
sit tunnel where stray direct current corrosion was expected. The 9-km tunn
el was divided into insulated 300-m long sections, each monitored by refere
nce electrodes for potential and current flowing within the concrete. All r
eadings were collected in a centralized data acquisition system for interpr
etation and storing. The results obtained during commissioning and early op
eration are discussed.
