Through a retrospective study, five Pseudomonas sepsis cases were collected
between 1988 and 1994 in the Department of Pediatrics Infectious Diseases
CH, Casablanca (Morocco). We describe clinical, biological and therapeutic
data. Mean age was 6 months. Ecthyma was present in all the patients. Pseud
omonas aeruginosa was isolated in all the patients in blood and twice in ce
rebrospinal fluid. It was always sensitive to ceftazidime and it was not su
sceptible to gentamycin except in once case. Three deaths occurred by septi
c shock. Severe prognosis incites recognition of ecthyma for an early diagn
osis and adapted treatment.
