Abstract
Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was prepared against phenobarbital using methacrylic acid as the functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross linking monomer. We analyzed the recogniti on properties of the phenobarbital MIP. In some organic solvents, impr inted polymer showed selective binding to phenobarbital. Two dissociat ion constants of binding were calculated by Scatchard plot analyses; K -d values were 1.8, 121.7 mu M, and the number of binding sites was 8. 3, 92.3 mu mol/g MIP in toluene-heptane-acetic acid (25:75:1, v/v), re spectively. The relationship between the binding affinity to phenobarb ital MIP and the polarity of the solvent system, as well as the struct ure of the template molecule is also discussed.
