Abstract
Test experiments are reported illustrating the potential of the HMI Binary Reaction Spectrometer (BRS) as a reaction channel filter for gamma-ray spec troscopy with binary exit channels. The BRS, developed as an ancillary dete ctor for EUROBALL, was tested with the smaller gamma-detector array OSIRIS. For correlated detection of two heavy ejectiles the BRS combines two large -area, fourfold segmented gas detector telescopes in a kinematic coincidenc e set-up.
