R. Camacho et al., Existence of junction-like structures in large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. An ultrastructural study, PATH RES PR, 195(2), 1999, pp. 81-87
The purpose of this work is to study the presence of cell junction-like str
uctures in large B-cell lymphomas. The ultrastructural study, based on 20 c
ases of this entity proved by immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry, demo
nstrated four types of junction-like devices easily found between tumor cel
ls.
Several explanations are offered about the possible nature of such structur
es, including the possibility of them being the result of adhesion phenomen
a. It should also be emphasized that they can potentially complicate the di
fferential diagnosis of those neoplasms. We should, therefore, be careful i
n rejecting an ultrastructural diagnosis of large B-cell lymphoma based onl
y on the presence of junction-Iike structures.
