The baryon axial vector currents are calculated at one-loop order in heavy
baryon chiral perturbation theory by employing both a cutoff and dimensiona
l regularization. Data from the semileptonic baryon decays are used to perf
orm a least-squares fit to the two axial vector couplings D and F of the ef
fective Lagrangian. Predictions for the momentum dependent axial vector for
m factors are made and the two different regularization schemes are compare
d. We also include the spin-3/2 decuplet in the effective theory. [S0556-28
