Abstract
Fast electron transport in a dense plasma is investigated with one-dimensio nal particle in-cell simulations. We show the importance of collisions in t he interaction of an ultra-intense ultrashort laser pulse with a solid targ et. We demonstrate that the fast electron penetration depth and distributio n depend on target resistivity. Collisions reinforce the fast electron conf inement near the irradiated surface.
