Abstract
A fiber-optic attenuator calibration system based on a high frequency subst itution method has been developed using a 30 MHz precision piston attenuato r equipped with a laser interferometer as a standard. The uncertainty of at tenuation calibration for a typical 10 dB attenuator is 0.025 dB at two sta ndard deviation levels. The resolution of the system is 0.001 dB and the dy namic range is 25 dB in a single step. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physi cs. [S0034-6748(99)02503-4].
