V. Shklyar et al., Improvement in steel quality obtained by continuous casting by means of electrophysical influences, REV METAL M, 34(6), 1998, pp. 482-487
Laboratory tests with tin smelted in a crucible and industrial tests with c
rude steel poured in moulds had been carried out. These metals were subject
ed to electrophysical influences. As a result of the applied electric field
, it is observed in tin that during the solidification, the crystalization
temperature and the solidification time are changed. Crystal growth in the
electric field direction and an increase of the fracture limit in the steel
ingot are observed.
