Abstract
An influence of KCl on the crystallization of (ImH)(3)[RuCl6], where ImH = C3H5N2+, was studied. It was shown that, depending on the concentration of KCl, either(ImH)(3)[RuCl6] . 1.5KCl or K-2[RuCl5(H2O)] is isolated. Two lat ter complexes were structurally characterized. The crystal structure of (Im H)(3)[RuCl6] . 1.5KCl was studied. The crystals are orthorhombic, a = 16.56 1(3), b = 9.526(2), c = 14.822(3) Angstrom, V = 2338.3 Angstrom(3), Z = 4, space group Pnnm. The octahedral [RuCl6](3-) anions, imidazolium ImH(+) cat ions, and K+ and Cr ions are the building blocks of this compound. The imid azolium cations were found to be nonequivalent. The complex system of N-H . .. Cl bonds is shown to play the stabilizing role. The biological activity of (ImH)(3)[RuCl6] was studied. It was established that this compound posse sses rather high antitumor and antimetastatic activities.
