Abstract
The preparation and characterization of the title complex, [Mn(Phen)(2 )Cl-2] are reported. The crystal structure determination shows that th e two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two Cl-atoms form the pyramidall y distorted octahedron around Mn(II). The chemically equivalent ligand s play a different structural role in this complex. Crystals of [Mn(Ph en)(2)Cl-2] are monoclinic, space group P2(1)/a with unit cell dimensi ons a = 14,522(4), b = 15.205(2), c = 9.470(1) Angstrom, beta = 98.90( 2)degrees, V = 2065.9(7) Angstrom(3), 2 = 4. The structure was refined by a full-matrix least-squares procedure to R = 0.043 for 2783 observ ed reflections.
