Neurooncology requires the integration of the clinical history, physical ex
amination, neuroimaging studies, neuropathology, surgery, radiation therapy
, and chemotherapy in order to properly diagnose and treat patients with su
spected brain tumors. The review herein serves to illustrate and emphasize
the pitfalls that can potentially occur during each step of the process of
managing patients with malignant gliomas. Familiarity with these pitfalls w
ill enhance the neurologist's ability to successfully manage patients with
neurooncological disease.
