Synthesis and spectral studies of some tin(II) and tin(IV) macrocyclic Schiff base complexes

The present paper is a report on the synthesis and characterisation of some tin(Ii) and tin(IV) macrocyclic Schiff base complexes. These complexes hav e been prepared by the reaction of tin dichloride, tin tetrachloride and di methyItin dichloride with 1,3-diaminopropane and benzil or m-phenylenediami ne and acetylacetone in oxygen-free nitrogen atmosphere using THF as the re action medium. On the basis of elemental analyses, conductance measurements , molecular weight determinations, and Sn-119 Mossbauer, electronic, infrar ed,H-1 NMR and Sn-119 NMR spectral studies, structures have been proposed f or these new complexes.
