Abstract
Reductions of a series of highly hindered alpha,alpha-disubstituted amino e sters to the corresponding amino alcohols were accomplished using the BuLi- DIBAl "ate complex". In addition, the novel amino acid a-benzyl histidine w as reduced via a persilylation/LAH reduction protocol.
