Abstract
Electrochemical properties of organic mono- and highmolecular polycarbonate s have been investigated by polarography for the first time. It is found th at the electrochemical reduction of carbonate group is realised by one-elec tron mechanism and this process is limited by diffusion. of carbonate molec ules to the cathode surface. It is shown that aliphatic carbonates are redu ced at more negative potentials than aromatic one and the rate of electroch emical reduction of the carbonate group is essentially decreased for polyca rbonates in comparison with lowmolecular carbonates.
