Abstract
4 beta-amino-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin and 4 beta-amino-4'-desmethyl-4-desoxy podophyllotoxin have been synthesized by reduction of the corresponding 4 b eta-azidopodophyllotoxin derivatives with samarium diiodide in excellent yi elds under convenient and mild conditions.
