Abstract
The structure of tetrabenzo-24-crown-8, C32H32O8, does not exhibit a bindin g cavity for alkali metal ions, but is collapsed in on itself. The conforma tion may be a result of inter- and intramolecular hydrogen bonding. The mol ecule lies on an inversion center.
